Removed mango seed oil from formula

I received a sample of this product with my recent purchase and noticed that the current formula has removed the mango seed oil, which is presently in the description online but added shea butter. Clarins has kept the wild mango butter which appears in the lower part of the ingredients list. As I did not have a chance to try the former formula I can't comment on the difference in smell, texture or performance betwen that version and this one. This product is highly emollient once warming on the skin and not too much is needed to cover the face and neck though rubbing is required to break it down so that it absorbs into the skin. The mask thins to an oil like consistency true to its description as a balm. I left the mask on for over an hour and then removed it with warm water and a wash cloth. My skin definitely felt soft and I'd even leave the mask on overnight if it absorbed completely which it doesn't. The smell is quite subtle but unfortunately there is not a hint of mango in it. I tend to think of wash off moisture masks to be a bit redundant but I thought this was a nice product, which performs as it says. I didn't experience any irritation or undesirable effects on first use. In essence, I'm concerned about Clarins' tendency to change formulas while failing to accordingly update online product descriptions or to account for or defend the changes. One wonders if cost saving is the reason. I also liked this product but at this point don't find it essential in my routine. If one has particularly dry skin and lives in a cold dry climate, it may however be a welcome regular addition.

Really moisturising

I have used this balm twice and I love it. My skin is definitely more hydrated. The smell is great, the product is smooth and soft and I'm sure it would be possible to leave this balm on instead of removing it. Thank you Clarins for a lovely product.
